- Print the provided copies of Daniel and Revelation and begin making extensive notes and highlights on these copies. You will also show me these copies at the end of the semester.
English Grammar 1
- In this class, you are assigned two reading assignments. Before our actual class starts, you may begin working on one of those reading assignments.
- Read one short story from the Reading Assignment Selections that I have uploaded in our Dropbox folder. You may choose one from any of the following short stories: The Necklace by Guy De Maupassant, The Lady or the Tiger by Frank Stockton, The Gift of the Magi by O Henry.
- After reading, write a brief review of what you read. The review should be between 100 to 200 words. Points will be deducted if you are short of 100 words or if you exceed 200 words.
- Do not summarize the story anymore. Instead, talk about how you felt while reading the story or when you read the ending of the story. You may also talk about what thoughts came to your mind while or after reading the story.
- Make sure you write your review in your own words. There are already a lot of reviews done on these stories but do not copy any of them or get your ideas from any of them. There are no right or wrong reviews for this assignment. I just want to know that you understood what you read.
- The objectives of this assignment are (1) that you are exposed to new English words that you can use when you speak or write and (2) that you are given more practice in developing your reading comprehension. So, to get the most of this assignment, and to make sure you understand the stories, use your dictionary to look up all the unfamiliar words that you will encounter.
- Make sure you are done with this assignment before school starts.
